We are the connectors of possible: Celebrating nearly four decades with BD!
Administrative Assistant. Marketing Manager. Product Manager. Regional Sales Manager. These are just some of the marketing and sales roles that Donatella Prandini has held over her 37 years working for BD. Today, she serves as the National Sales Manager for Italy and Greece for Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS).
Donatella says throughout her time at BD, she’s had the benefit of understanding both the marketing and the sales side of BD products and solutions in the Italian market. “I spent 25 years in marketing here and that allowed me to connect with R&D, Project Management, a host of teams to understand how best to market our solutions. But when I moved over to sales, that’s when I really understood how our products serve our customers and the end patient in real-life. It’s this dual mindset that I’ve loved about my role at BD.”
Lots of change, but Purpose remains the same
The world has changed significantly in nearly 40 years, and so has BD as it’s grown to become one of the largest med tech companies in the world – the backbone of healthcare, really.
“We’ve put more emphasis on diversity and inclusion, having more flexibility in how we go about our workdays and schedules. I also think managers have become more people-focused and open-minded about developing and supporting talent – really paying attention to associate needs. We’ve also enhanced so many processes across the company and become more strategic with marketing and selling our products. And of course, with the C.R. Bard and CareFusion acquisitions, we grew our product portfolio extensively,” said Donatella. “But our purpose remains the same – advancing the world of healthTM.”
Remains committed to BD, her team, and customers
“I manage a team of 20 salespeople today who represent the IDS business and who advocate for our customer – they are some of the most passionate and dedicated people with whom I’ve had the pleasure to work,” said Donatella. “We are all working hard knowing there is a patient who will benefit from our work and solutions. I am proud that the end patient is at the heart of our decisions and actions as a company.”
Reflections on BD
Donatella would offer the following advice to someone considering joining BD or seeking to move into another role at the company: “Keep an open mind. Really ask yourself what you want to do – where can you add more value at BD? What do you like to do? Be really honest with yourself about where you also may have knowledge gaps or things you need to learn to take on a new role here. And question if you are seeking a move just to move – what more can you do or learn in your current role that may set you up for another opportunity at BD?”
