We are seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for our Brea, CA facility. This person is responsible for lab resource forecasting, scheduling, and assignment of daily and weekly lab tasks. They frequently collaborate with R&D project teams to report on testing progress and testing defects. They collaborate with the lab administration team and Quality team to maintain laboratory equipment (maintenance and calibration).Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
Executes lab team strategy for the Lab site
Primary Point of Contact for lab requests and tracking work progress; Meets with all [MDS, MMS] R&D project teams to receive testing forecasts
Ensures facility compliance to latest standards for EHS and other relevant standards for lab site.
Uses knowledge and experience of design control, guide lab team for execution.
Ensures projects and products are completed on time and are of BD quality
Develops and maintains metrics that demonstrate measurable improvements
Communicate across the organization to inform and resolve issues.
Responsible for oversight of work product for associates within their team
Receives engineering requests to build, condition, and test samples, reviews protocols and assigns work to lab staff
Ensures support and training to technicians.
Ensures all associates who are operating equipment and handling samples in the lab are trained on safety and equipment handling as applicable per work request and lab protocol
Sets priorities and workloads for lab technicians in collaboration with laboratory manager
Participates in testing strategy and testing as applicable
Ensures that laboratory equipment and fixtures are maintained and in good working order and properly identified / labeled; ensures GDP and GLP
Supports or leads equipment validation, calibration and preventative maintenance as applicable
Supports Out of Specification (OOS) investigation
Supports Test Method Development and Test Method Validation work
Identifies gaps and improvement opportunities in the lab and supports addressing them on a continuous basis
Minimum Requirement:
0-2 years of supervisory/R&D experience required, and
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree and minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory or R&D setting, Or
Associates in Applied Science (AAS) and minimum of 4 years of experience in a laboratory or R&D setting, Or
High School Diploma and minimum of 10 years of experience in a laboratory or R&D setting
Knowledgeable in lab practices and standards for compliance and safety
Strong technical leadership; Excellent communication and presentation skills
Familiarity with LIMS
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Ability to tactfully advise decision makers
Well organized
Excellent technical writing
Understands root cause analysis techniques
Persistence to develop solutions to technical problems- familiarity with mechanical testing equipment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Project
Familiarity with Microsoft Flow/Power Apps
Ability to train technicians
Familiarity with Statistics and software packages that conduct data analysis
Preferred skills: Coaching and Mentorship, statistical analysis desirable
Physical Demands:
Standing while performing task
Able to lift 50Lbs
Sitting for long periods
Work Environment: Laboratory environment- frequently need to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable to the task; may encounter/use chemical or blood for testing
