Job Description Summary

Bring your mechatronics and field engineering skills to a role that keeps automation running across hospitals and pharmacies in QLD.

Job Description

At BD, possibility isn’t an idea. It’s what we do. We are the Makers of Possible.

Join BD as a Field Service Engineer - BD Rowa and support leading pharmacy automation and medication management systems across retail pharmacy and hospital environments. You’ll work hands‑on with BD Rowa dispensing robots, keeping them running safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This is a great opportunity for a field engineer with experience servicing automation, electro‑mechanical machinery, lab robotics, imaging equipment, or conveyancing systems who wants to step into MedTech and work with cutting‑edge technology that directly supports medication safety and clinical workflow.

Your Day‑to‑Day

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll combine remote diagnostics with on‑site servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance to keep BD Rowa and Pyxis systems performing at their best.

Your day will include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving software and hardware issues quickly to minimise downtime
  • Providing technical support across BD Rowa, SynMed/Rowa Dose, and Pyxis capital equipment
  • Performing field repairs, preventative maintenance, system testing, and electrical safety checks
  • Supporting installations, commissioning, and customer handover
  • Serving as a key technical contact for electronic servicing, spare parts, and system queries
  • Conducting workflow/system reviews as part of implementation and providing technical sales support
  • Planning, scheduling, and communicating PM visits and breakdowns to align with customer operations
  • Delivering clear documentation and keeping service records accurate and compliant

You'll work across Queensland, with occasional travel and on‑call participation as required.

About You

You’re hands‑on, technically strong, and thrive in field environments where no two days are the same. You enjoy solving complex problems on-site, talking customers through solutions, and working with advanced electro‑mechanical technology.

You’ll bring:

  • A background in mechatronics, electro‑mechanical systems, electronics, automation, or lab/imaging equipment
  • Experience servicing complex systems at customer sites - robotics, automation, packaging systems, conveyancing, lab instruments, etc.
  • Strong diagnostic skills (hardware, electromechanical & software/network issues)
  • Confidence reading schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documents
  • Experience with server-based systems and remote diagnostics
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage customer expectations effectively
  • Self‑motivation, professionalism, and the ability to work autonomously
  • Restricted Electrical Licence (preferred) or willingness to obtain
  • Electronics/computing trade qualification, engineering diploma or degree (preferred)
