Job Description Summary

Opportunity for Field Service Technician to join our team and work on our market-leading Automated Robotic Medication Dispensing capital equipment - BD ROWA and BD Pyxis across NSW/ACT

Job Description

Love solving technical problems on the spot? Keep BD’s automation running when it matters most.

At BD, possibility isn’t an idea. It’s what we do. We are the Makers of Possible.

Join BD as a Field Service Engineer (Technician) and be the on‑the‑ground problem solver who keeps our automation performing when it matters most. You’ll support ROWA and Pyxis both in pharmacy and hospitals, blending remote diagnostics with hands‑on field work to fix issues fast and minimise downtime.

Your Day-to-Day

You’ll manage the full service workflow for ROWA and Pyxis: server reboots and patching, antivirus/Microsoft updates, device/server log retrieval, breakdown repairs and PMs, installation support, and clear case management from open to close.

Your day to day will include:

  • Performing remote diagnostics: server reboots, patching, antivirus/Microsoft security updates; retrieving device/server logs to resolve cases quickly.

  • Carrying out on‑site preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs, plus performance and electrical safety testing on electro‑medical equipment.

  • Assisting with installations and handovers; completing accurate documentation for all service activities.

  • Planning and communicating PM and breakdown visits around customer workflows; meeting service agreements and SOPs.

  • Monitoring Service Desk cases, escalating appropriately, and closing issues promptly with clear notes.

  • Providing technical information, setting expectations, and representing BD professionally on customer sites.

  • Following health & safety procedures and maintaining up‑to‑date records that meet quality standards.

  • Travel: Cover sites across NSW/ACT, with occasional interstate trips for training. Short‑notice travel or on‑call participation may be required at times.

About You

You’re a practical problem‑solver with a strong electro‑mechanical background. You enjoy using your tools and technology to diagnose issues fast, and you’re comfortable switching between server‑side support and on‑site repairs.

You’ll bring:

  • A Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics trade qualification or Engineering certificate (recent grads welcome)

  • Electro‑mechanical troubleshooting proficiency (mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring/low voltage, sensors, drives)

  • Confidence with computers, networks, and assigned software; solid server/remote diagnostic capability

  • Ability to complete repairs and upgrades to electro‑medical equipment and follow SOPs/technical documents

  • Clear communication, strong time management, and a safety‑first approach on customer sites

  • Restricted Electrical Licence (preferred) or willingness to train and obtain

  • Self‑motivation - comfortable working independently; full, clean driver’s licence
