Position Summary

As a Field Service Engineer, you will provide on-site technical support to BD customers for diagnostic instrumentation. This role requires technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently while traveling to customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and service diagnostic instruments with minimal supervision according to ISO and GMP standards

  • Conduct follow-up calls with customers to ensure service satisfaction

  • Maintain inventory, test equipment, tools, and technical documentation

  • Complete accurate service documentation in compliance with GMP requirements

  • Manage time effectively and control expenses within established guidelines

  • Report quality control and technical issues to the Service Center and management

  • Maintain and properly utilize company vehicle according to Corporate fleet policy

  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve customer issues

  • Represent BD professionally through high standards of appearance, ethical behavior, and good judgment

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma OR 3-5 years technical training through formal education or hands-on experience in manufacturing or similar technical role

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Technical writing and training abilities

  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills

  • Valid state-issued driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history

  • Ability to meet BD's auto safety standards

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of time outside home geographic area

  • Must meet Vendor Credentialing Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with medical devices and equipment

  • Knowledge of PC/software/LIS/networking/database management

  • Proficiency with PC-based equipment and application software

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 30-40 lb objects from floor to chest level

  • Manual dexterity to operate tools (sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers) repeatedly during 8-10 hour workdays

  • Ability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly throughout the workday

  • Capability to push and pull objects weighing up to 70 lbs

  • Fine motor skills while reaching for extended periods

  • Ability to carry a 30 lb pack for up to 1 hour

  • Capable of driving up to 6 hours, including in adverse weather conditions

  • Ability to climb portable ladders and step stools

  • May need to wear a respirator and pass fit testing and annual spirometry
