Job Description

About the Role

Looking for an engineering opportunity where you can combine hands-on technical work with project ownership?

As a Project Engineer, Packaging, you will support and drive engineering projects across packaging processes, equipment, validation, supplier activities, and continuous improvement within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Engineering teams, and external suppliers, you will help take engineering solutions from evaluation and development through qualification and implementation, while contributing directly to plant performance, product quality, operational efficiency, and cost improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support capital equipment projects from evaluation and acquisition through installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of packaging and process equipment.
  • Drive packaging engineering projects, including packaging material changes, supplier qualification and transfers, process improvements, and Cost-to-Win (CTW) initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain key project and engineering documentation, including change controls, risk assessments, protocols, validation documentation, and supporting technical records.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and external suppliers to develop and improve packaging processes, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support for equipment maintenance, modifications, troubleshooting, process improvements, and other value-stream initiatives.
  • Plan and coordinate project activities and stakeholders, ensuring deliverables, risks, priorities, and timelines are effectively managed.
  • Support packaging testing, qualification, and validation activities to ensure product and packaging integrity throughout handling, storage, transportation, and distribution.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including relevant ISO and FDA requirements.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, equipment and process reliability, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Undertake other engineering responsibilities and projects as required to support operational and business priorities.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in packaging engineering, packaging validation, material qualification, equipment qualification, or supplier transfer would be an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

We are looking for someone who is technically curious, hands-on, and comfortable working across different functions and projects.

  • Good project coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take ownership, and adapt to changing project and business requirements.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes.
  • Hands-on exposure to multiple levels of packaging, including blister packaging, dispenser boxes, and shipper/carton packaging, would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to validation, qualification, change control, risk assessment, and continuous improvement methodologies would be beneficial.

What You Will Contribute

In this role, your work will directly contribute to:

  • Safety, Quality, Service, and Delivery performance in line with plant and value-stream objectives.
  • Successful execution and timely delivery of engineering and packaging projects.
  • Improvements in equipment and packaging process capability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Effective implementation of packaging changes, qualifications, and supplier-related activities.
  • Continuous improvement and Cost-to-Win (CTW) initiatives that deliver sustainable operational and cost benefits.
