Sterilization and microbiology subject matter expert supporting the BDI segment with expertise in all modes of medical device sterilization, regulatory sterilization requirements, contamination control, and new product development support.Job Description

Strategy Awareness, Development, and Implementation:
Prioritize key objectives and continuous improvement activities related to sterilization and contamination control.
Lead a multi-location sterility assurance network.
Provide recommendations to align network sterilization and microbiology capabilities with network strategy.
Identify sterilization resource needs for changes in manufacturing architecture, new products/processes, and validation of additional sterilization equipment.
Maintain effective communication and network with leadership team members.
Technical Support:
Support new product development, special projects, and programs as specified in individual impact goals or as required by the manager.
May generate global policies and procedures and release sterile products (by exception).
Provide guidance to strategic sourcing/procurement functions in the qualification and ongoing management of contract sterilization and testing suppliers.
Interact with network standards organizations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Knowledge Management:
Act as a liaison among network leadership team to communicate metrics, best practices, cost improvement programs, and successful technology advances.
Mentor and develop personnel, including succession planning and contingency management.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in microbiology, biology, or associated medical technology field required. Formal training in Sterilization Technology preferred.
Minimum 10 years of work experience in sterilization and microbiological/laboratory in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry.
Experience with cGMPs, USP, ISO, EN, and FDA regulations regarding laboratory practices, process environments, sterilization methods, ethylene oxide residuals, and bacterial endotoxin.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of sterilization methods, specifically Ethylene Oxide and radiation, with thermal (moist/dry heat) highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with sterilization technology and microbiology.
Experience with failure investigations and root-cause analysis.
Understanding of sterilization effectiveness and control, process development, and performance qualification of terminal sterilization processes.
Related Standards Management experience (ISO, AAMI, ASTM) highly desirable.
Understanding of sterilization audit requirements and ability to translate this to supplier expectations.
Ability to teach sterilization concepts and share knowledge to enhance associate and organizational capabilities.
Strong organizational and motivational skills, effective customer interaction, decision-making skills, and ability to manage and influence others.
Effective communication and technical writing skills.
Ability to liaise with regulatory agencies as required.
